About the Band

In the beginning...

In 2016 lifelong friends, Ronnie Sprowls and Jimmie Davis, were having a jam session together and decided to Drink a Beer and do a shot of Tennessee Whiskey. Over drinks, they decided to start a band. Jimmie came up with the name Drunken Hillbillies after two of his favorite local bands.

Since Jim Davis, his father, was no longer playing out much due to age, Jimmie asked him to join the band to carry on the Family Tradition of playing music. Jim said yes. They only had 3 in the band, so Jimmie went to his brother about joining. Eddie Davis said, "All I Have to Offer is playing drums and singing." Eddie became band member number four.

Shortly after that, they found Tom Duranko. Tom really wanted to be a Long Haired Country Boy, but since he was bald, it was a little bit difficult. Instead he sang and played guitar. And just like that, Tom completed the Drunken Hillbillies Band. They all started practicing together every week on Tuesday nights. Now, Tuesday's Gone for practices due to the daytime jobs. Instead they get together on off days. Every practice always starts out with a shot of Apple Crown. It has become a band tradition.

In 2017, the Drunken Hillbillies started playing gigs. Their first gig was at Cheat Lake for a July 4th party. Thanks to Tom Duranko for getting us that gig! Most everyone had a Drinking Problem that night! There were fireworks under the Neon Moon and everyone had a Good Time.

All the guys like playing together and enjoy putting smiles on peoples faces. Although at times they get the Working Man Blues, with the late hours on gig nights, BUT the music STILL gives them a Peaceful Easy Feeling. Here in the Real World, there is nothing like being able to play music with family and friends.
